  1. Very pleased – Rating 4

We bought this a couple of months ago and have just started to use it for our 11 week old baby. The image quality is fantastic and even at night in B/W we can see the baby breathing. The unit is silent with zero interference and only bleeps when the baby makes a sound or moves. There is a nightlight but it is not too bright. We are really pleased with it.

  2. quality video and audio – Rating 4

    Posted by r gill27th Apr 2010

I have bought this product with the addition camera and I have to say that it is very good.

pros: looks good, excellent audio and video, crystal clear pictures even in the dark. there is a volume adjustment button, you just press up or down on the dial on the front, it scans between the cameras but does not allow you to decide how much time before it does to the next camera. the aerial is hardly ever used, only needed when I am outside in the garden. also the mic on the camera is very good, too good in fact as it will same times pick up noises from downstairs such as the door closing.

cons: the power adapter cable should be longer, the internal battery on the monitor should be better, even on vox its not great, the buttons seem a little fiddley and the button to raise the aerial in not great. the postion of the night light is not good either as you find yourself pressing it accidently.

none of cons would stop me from recommending this product if you need 2 cameras, however if all you need is one I don't think this camera is that much better than the others on the market. Also if you are thinking of buying a system off ebay which is located in china, don't they are ok but more trouble than its worth.

  3. Luvion Platinum Digital Review – Rating 3

    First Impressions:-

I liked the look of the product, very compact, lightweight, and stylish I phone type look. Setup was easy, just charge for 6 hours plug in and away you go. Next I started to play with the gadgets on the device and there were some good but equally not so good points:-

1 The video quality especially is excellent - you just can't fault it even the nightvision (which automatically turns on in the blink of an eye if you switch lights off) is excellent.

2 The quality of the sound is crystal clear and there is no background buzz as you get with some monitors

The not so good points (that the other reviewers haven't picked up on:-

1 The sensitiivty of the microphone is poor - in particular there is a power save mode which turns off the monitor after a set period of time and activates it again when sound is heard (VOX function). However, even at the highest sensitivity setting you can clap your hands 2m away or even talk softly and nothing happens. The annoying thing is the slightest tap on the camera unit itself will reactivate the LCD screen (suggesting it partly works, but the average baby won't be touching the camera!)

    2) Also don't be fooled by the writing on the box which states that it has fully adjustable volume - the alarm on the receiver has an adjustable volume level but the volume on the receiver itself is not adjustable - this is very poor, even the most basic receivers let you adjust the volume level. editors note: volume IS adjustable on receiver

In summary this product is very epensive and for the price you expect everything to work properly which I'm afraid is not the case. It's a shame because the it could be a very could product but falls short in some areas.
If you want just to see your child on a display then maybe consider buying it because you probably won't beet the image quality, but otherwise stay well clear - you have been warned!

  4. Luvion Baby Monitor Review by Martin Smith. UK – Rating 4

Posted by Martin Smith1st Apr 2010

Note: The technical data is from my real world tests;· the opinions are only my thoughts and are not criticisms of the system. Everyone will see and use the system in their own unique way.
I actually monitor (24 hours) an old disabled person, not a baby, but I think the review is fair reflection whatever you were monitoring.
This is the first time I’ve ordered from BabySecurity, I chose to use the telephone as I had a few questions for them before I purchased this.
May I say the person on the telephone was very helpful and courteous. Once my order was placed, I got and email confirmation, while I was still on the telephone. From ordering it to opening the box took 23 hours. Exception service thanks.

    First impressions:
Note I have written this after only 4 days use.
The first thing to strike you is the box, outside graphics and its internal protection for the units show attention to detail and quality.
When you pick the units up they feel solid, well made, pleasant to handle and not too heavy. Very good for the camera as I mount mine on the ceiling. (It’s so easy to hook on and off if you want to temporarily move locations.)
Apart from you have to charge the Monitor unit for 6 hours before you first use it. (Normal for most batter powered devices.) The system really is quick and easy to set up. Just plug everything in, turn it on, and hey presto its working.

    Good points:
    Build quality seems very good.
A nice feel and function to them.
In all but pitch black conditions, the image is very clear and stable, the only time I’ve had the picture flicker is when I jack the A/V cable in or out with the unit still switched on.
I like “I” can use it anywhere in my home with the aerial down.
The cradle is a nice touch.

    Not so good points:
Both the monitor and camera adaptor leads are about 3m to short. (Considering the premium cost of the unit I find this very poor and penny pinching. The same goes for only supplying 2 special mounting screws.)
The first menu option is pairing, bearing in mind once your set up you’d not want that option I find it a bad position as you can too easily make it re-pair if you not careful. EV, Settings, Power, Pair would have been a better order.
There is no battery level meter on screen.
The viewing angle forward/backward on the monitor is a bit narrow. Left/Right is OK. (The spec claims they are the same but you get a tunnel vision effect when you tilt the screen forwards or backwards.)
It uses visible IR LEDs for night vision, I would prefer the none visible LEDs. (My previous Baby monitor had these invisible to the human eye LEDs.)
Image quality (Viewing on the supplied monitor):
In daylight the quality is good. (I’ve tried more than 5 other camera systems.)
Even at dusk, it''s still very usable but noticeably poorer as you would expect.
In night vision mode (B/W) it is still reasonably clear and usable. You can certainly see the subject clearly enough. (A nice touch is it seems to switch on the LEDs before it’s so dark it has to switch to B/W so you get a colour image for longer/lower light levels, not seen that on other makes of baby monitor.)

Image quality (Viewing through a TV):
The image is a little grainy as you''d expect but still very usable and compensated for by the fact the subject is quite large. (Depending how big your TV is)

    Image size:
Note: Measurements approximate to 3cm the quoted camera angle is 60°
With the camera placed 1m from the subject the field of view is 0.8m wide by 0.6m high at
With the camera placed 2m from the subject the field of view is 1.5m wide by 1.1m high at

    Audio quality:
Both the quality and the volume of the audio are very good.
The VOX function works well and I like the fact the receiver mutes the sound when there is none.

    Battery life:
The system was set to be permanently on and never turn off until it ran out of power;· this should give a good worst case scenario.
All power save options are off and no nightlight function or the A/V cable were used. (NOT using TV cable)

    Camera:
The camera lasted 2 hours on 2600mAh Ni-MH batteries pretty respectable I think.
I thought it only fair to test this in daylight mode, as battery power for the camera is stated as being a short term stop gap option.

You only seem to be able to use night vision if it''s on the mains adaptor. On batteries, the camera was still on but after 5 minutes the LEDs are off so you need a small amount of light.

    Monitor:
The Monitor/Receiver lasted 3 hours on its own internal rechargeable battery. Again pretty respectable.
The Monitor/Receiver lasted just over 4 hours on its own internal rechargeable battery with the power save set to 1 minute.

In pitch black conditions, “night vision” on the camera goes off on batteries in about 40 minutes, so if you’re just at friends for two hours it would not last long enough to monitor at their house without the power adaptor. Though if the room is light with ambient light the camera continues to function

Note: The Monitor/Receiver does get slightly warm around the battery area and strangely, the camera gets warm at the back as well.
    Radio range/quality:
It works great anywhere inside my house even with the aerial down!
I can go anywhere around my property and get a good connection. If I go outside my property the best I can do is 100m away with the aerial up. (Camera transmitting through one wall.)

I have not noticed any change in my Telephone or Wi-Fi, so no cross interference, and they do not appear to interfere with the Baby Monitor either, fantastic.
    Night light:
I know what a low light level lamp is for, I am not sure what this cameras night light is for, certainly no use or comfort in my opinion.
    Conclusion: 8/10
I like this Baby Monitor, it is built to a good quality level and attention to detail is very noticeable.
I would say a £40 less price tag and it would be a very good buy, that said I would recommend buying one, and it is certainly the best I have used so far.

  5. Luvion Review – Rating 5

    Posted by Unknown1st Apr 2010

We were a little cautious of spending this amount of money after previously been let down by a video monitor, but we took the chance and am glad we did, we were impressed from the minute it arrived, the quality was unbelievable, even the packaging was impeccable!! The monitor was so simple to set up even pairing the additional cameras took no time at all, comes with wall fixings and camera is multi positionable. The picture is completely crystal clear, even at night, the sound is perfect not a single noise, not one bit of interference at all. when she cries it sounds like she is in the same room. even when connected to the tv (42 inch screen) the picture is unbeatable. i would definately recommend this product to anyone.
